10 Psychic Paranormal Romance Books That Are Actually About Psychics

I love a good psychic romance book. A suspenseful tale about two people with paranormal abilities solving a mystery or saving a life, all while falling in love along the way, is one of my favorite things to read.

Since Love & Omens is releasing in a few weeks, I've been searching through the Psychic Romance category on Amazon, and like a while back, when I posted about how hard it is to find ghost stories that don't involve shifters or vampires, I've discovered any type of psychic story is just as hard to find.

I love shifter and vampire books as much as the next gal. I've even written a few myself. But because many creatures of the night have psychic abilities, and there are SO many shifter and vampire books out there, a good majority of the books in the Psychic Romance category are about shifters and/or vampires.

Finding more down-to-earth books about (almost) normal humans with abilities can be frustrating, but hopefully this post will help. Here are ten psychic romance books that are actually about psychics!

Body & Soul by Terri Molina

Spiritualist Sylvia Chavez is well-known in the Rio Grande Valley as a gifted clairvoyant who has been helping the families in her community since she was a child. When she learns one of her clients is the latest victim in a series of ritual killings, she inserts herself into the investigation with the man who broke her heart ten years earlier. But what Sylvia doesn’t tell him is that the killer is much more dangerous than he knows, and he wants revenge on her family.

Agent Steven Gonzales with the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Criminal Investigations Division believes the murders are connected to a South Texas drug lord rumored to be involved in black magic sacrifices. Although Steven doesn’t believe in the hocus-pocus, he allows Sylvia to consult on the case, as long as she keeps her theories of witches and black magic to herself.

Sylvia accepts she will always love Steven, but she won’t risk giving him her heart if he has no faith in her. But when the spirits abandon her and all signs point toward death, can she put the past behind her and help him find the killer before it’s too late?

The Haunting of Hillwood Farm by Kathryn Knight

After tragedy strikes, Callie Sinclair is left with a gift she never wanted--the ability to communicate with ghosts. But when a desperate widow begs for her help, she reluctantly agrees to investigate the strange occurrences at Hillwood Farm. She quickly realizes she's dealing with a dangerous presence beyond anything she's ever experienced, and something else becomes equally clear--the only other living person in the house, Mrs. Turner's handsome grandson, thinks she's a scam artist. While she'd prefer to just ignore him, her heart beats a little faster every time he's nearby.

Luke Turner doesn't believe in spirits. He's moved back to restore the family farm, but living on the property serves a dual purpose--he can watch out for his grandmother. He's not happy about the sudden appearance of a self-described psychic, or his inexplicable attraction to her. His initial suspicions crumble as evidence points to an actual haunting, but he's still determined not to fall for Callie--the past has taught him it's best to avoid relationships.

As Callie is drawn deeper into the mystery, she becomes the target of a vengeful spirit, and Luke can no longer fight his feelings for her. Unable to resist their desire, passion ignites...even as the paranormal activity escalates to a final deadly confrontation.

Love & Omens by Carrie Pulkinen

She sees the future.
He reads the past.
The present could kill them both.

Knowing how things will end before they even begin is a curse New Orleans tour guide Sydney Park has endured since she was a child. Her premonitions make surprises few and far between, and dating…

What's the point?

Reading the past in objects has caused more trouble for Blake Beaumont than he cares to admit. Opening the Museum of the Macabre is his last attempt at using his ability and his college degree to make a living.

But the artifacts he's acquired have haunting attachments that could put everyone's lives in danger.

When Blake joins forces with Sydney's tour company, he jumps at the chance to rekindle his relationship with her. She can’t help but fall for him all over again, until an ominous vision of a closed-casket funeral stops her cold.

Someone she loves is going to die.

If Sydney and Blake can't unravel the mystery, their haunted pasts will eclipse any chance of a future.

If you like strong heroines and haunting mystery, you'll love this spellbinding tale of romance in the Big Easy.

Mirror, Mirror by Tami Lund

Shifting Auras by Claire Davon

Maya Wingfield was raised to trust no one—least of all the dueling U.S. and Russian paranormal agencies, Universe and Night Stars, who’d love to harness her mind-reading gift.

But when she gets yet another call to retrieve her drunken roommate, her mind shows her an amber-eyed Universe operative with an impenetrable net around his deepest secret—and a voice that sends shock waves of awareness down her nerve endings.

Maya’s curves and aquamarine eyes aren’t the only things that jolt Ian Sanderson’s mental shields, bringing sexual tension thrumming back to life. It’s a power his Universe-trained mind knows he shouldn’t trust. And a vulnerability that makes his telekinetic power burn in his palms to protect her.

But to Universe, she is just one of too many unanswered questions. A target for Whisper, a shadowy new group of paranormals with powers beyond anything Universe has ever seen. Once before, Ian failed to protect a sensitive from a brain-scrambling attack. He will not fail again . . . even if it means using his talent—or his body—to stop a bullet.

  1. Love the list, and going in and buying a few because, it is *the season!* And, like you, finding stories that deal with gifts that truly exist can be difficult to find. Thank you for including Christmas on the Strand 🙂 It’s a two-season, gambit! lol

  2. Carrie, I’m so excited to see this list! Being a huge fan of spirits and psychic studies, I too found it hard to find books containing elements of real practices. I’m excited to read some of the books on this list.
Thank you so much for adding my 1st book in, Josh and Jennifer’s epic love story, to your list!

  3. Great list, looking forward to finding some new ghostly reads! I’m thrilled The Haunting of Hillwood Farm got a shout-out ~ thanks so much!

  4. Carrie, I am like you–always on the lookout for paranormal romances with ghosts and psychics rather than vamps and shifters. In fact, that’s why I started writing them. Thanks for compiling this awesome list!
